Douglas Edward Cheeks, affectionately known as "Duck", was born on July 21, 1958, to the late John Robert Cheeks and the late Lizzie Thompson Cheeks in Spartanburg, SC. He was educated in Spartanburg County schools.

Douglas had a very comical demeanor and was known for his practical jokes. His way of showing love and affection was through humor. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Fred Sanford and football.  Douglas's favorite color was money green.

He was preceded in death, along with parents, by siblings, Robert Cheeks, June Cheeks, Willie Cheeks, James "Jap" Cheeks, and Louise Cheeks.

Those are left behind are sisters, Essie Lee Harrison of Boiling Spring, SC, Mary Goode of Chesnee, SC and Pearl (Howard) Wells of Chesnee, SC; aunt, Clara Brewton of Spartanburg, SC; special nephews, Travis Hughes and Willie Pilgrim; nieces, Lizzie Goode, Evelyn Pilgrim and Tamara Pilgrim; and host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

On the morning of Monday, January 29, 2024, Douglas entered eternal rest at the Midway Residential Home. He will continuously be remembered for his loving comedic spirit.
