IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doreatha Gail
Hackett
July 17, 1964 – May 18, 2025
Doreatha Gail Hackett was born on July 17, 1964, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Alice Gail Ellis Hackett and the late Willis Hackett. She was educated in the Spartanburg County school system and graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1982. She continued her education at Shaw University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration.
Doreatha was a jovial, happy, and gentle spirit. A proud advocate for education and African American culture, she was an avid reader who believed deeply in learning and growth. She was a true workaholic, always committed to doing her best in every endeavor. Doreatha loved to cook and cherished time spent with family, especially her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed singing and once sang in the church choir. Her favorite color was purple, a reflection of the regal warmth she carried. She was a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Elizabeth A. Hackett.
She leaves behind sisters, Mary A. Hackett and Vickie (Carnell) Hackett-Bullock, both of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Jerry Hackett and Willis Hackett III, both of Spartanburg, SC; uncle, Nathaniel Martin of Spartanburg, SC; nieces, Lakea (Chris) Noel and Tacheria (Kevin) Brooks; nephews, Jordan (Monique) Bullock, Austin (Dominique) Bullock, Sterling Hackett Charles Hackett, and Isaiah Thompson; great-nieces, Parker Noel, Pierce Noel, Alianna Bullock, and Marliegh Brooks; great-nephews, Prynn Noel, Braylon Bullock, and Journei Bullock; best friends, Patricia Varner and Jessie Lyles; and her extended families at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and Shaw University, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
On the evening of Sunday, May 18, 2025, Doreatha transitioned peacefully at Spartanburg Medical Center. Her life, love, and legacy will be deeply missed.
