Donnie Ray Carson, affectionately known as "D Ray", was born on June 7, 1964, to Betty Lou Wellman Carson and the late L.C. Carson, in Spartanburg, SC.  He was educated in Spartanburg County schools. He worked many years in construction.

Donnie was a hard worker and enjoyed painting. He was a "home body" loved watching football, grilling, and cooking. He was known for his deep-fried turkeys. Donnie was a Pittsburg Steelers fan and a member of the Men of Action. He was also a D, and his stage name was "Dr. Rock".

Left to cherish his fond and loving memories are his mother, Betty Lou Wellman Carson of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, L.C. (Kathleen) Carson, Jr. of Boiling Springs, SC, Donald Carson, Ronnie (Margie) Carson, and Sharwmaine Carson all of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Vickie (Ray Woodruff) Colvin and Tammy Jones both of Spartanburg, SC; nephews, Michael Carson, Tony Carson, Curtis Williams, and Darrius Carson; nieces, Elicia Williams and Jasmine Smith; the Fairfax Street Family; and host of other relatives, and friends.

On the morning of Friday, September 13, 2024, Donnie transitioned peacefully at his home. He will forever be remembered and cherished in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.
