Detra Lamontrail Geter, affectionately known as "Ms. Lucy",  was born on January 14, 1987, to Deanna Geter and Bennie Jefferies, in Spartanburg, SC. She was educated in Spartanburg County schools and was a 2005 Gettys D. Broome High School graduate. Detra continued her education at Spartanburg Community College and received an associate's degree. She was currently a student at Liberty University seeking her bachelor's degree.  She was proud of being a Broom High School Centurian.  Her favorite NFL football team was the Carolina Panthers and she was partial to the color olive green.

Detra was an intake specialist with the Department of Juvenile Justice. She had an endearing love for her daughter and was a quintessential doting mother. Detra would protect anyone she loved and always lived life to the fullest. She placed having life experiences above gaining earthly materials. She was a foodie and enjoyed dining out and trying new foods. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling.

Those who preceded her in death include her father, Frederick Lee; grandmother, Rachel Geter; and great-grandmother, Odessa Lowrance.

Left to celebrate and commemorate her life are her daughter, Destiny Geter Lowrance of the home; mother, Deanna Geter of Spartanburg, SC; father, Bennie (Renee) Jefferies of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Frederic Jamall Geter, Brandon Lee, Demetrius Lee and Antron Lee all of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Crystal Banks, Asha Lee, Niesha Lee, Karhetta Lee, and Morgan Lee all of Spartanburg, SC; grandparents, Lillie Geter and Helen Dean both of Spartanburg, SC; aunts, Priscilla Jefferies and Robin Geter both of Spartanburg, SC; uncles, Ray (Tiffany) Geter of Boiling Springs, SC, Delniss (Leslie) Geter of Spartanburg, SC, Tim (Sharon) Geter of Simpsonville, SC, William Foster of Spartanburg, SC and Anthony Foster of Spartanburg, SC; godmom, T'Kaiia Miller; life-long friend, Ivory Whitlock; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

On Thursday, August 1, 2024, Detra transitioned at the Spartanburg Medical Center. Her life and legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of her family and friends.
