Deontay Jayquan Lynch, affectionately known as of "DJ", was born on February 12, 1994, in Spartanburg, SC to Jermeca LaTasha Miller Jackson and the late Elford Warren Lynch. "DJ" was educated in Spartanburg County schools and was a 2012 graduate of Chapman High School. While in high school, he played football, basketball, and ran track.
"DJ" continued his education at USC-Upstate and earned a Bachelor's degree in accounting. He went on to earn a Master's degree in accounting from Clemson University. "DJ" was a tax accountant for the Hulquist Firm.
"DJ" had an endearing love for his wife and children. They were his most precious gift that God had given him. It is noted that he was a loving husband and a doting father. "DJ" loved God with all of his heart and spent quality time reading his Bible and praying. He would often have devotion with his children and cousins.
He coached a YMCA basketball team on which his daughter was a member. "DJ" was a source of inspiration and motivation to many. Inspiring others to be their best version of themselves was one of his life's commitments. "DJ" was a blogger and social media influencer with a podcast name "Dad Big Thinker".
His favorite NFL team was the Dallas Cowboys and his college team was the Clemson Tigers. His favorite color was blue.
Deontay was a proud member of Divine Purpose Ministries where he served as the Children's Ministry coordinator.
"DJ" was preceded in death, along with his father, by grandfathers, Warren Lynch and Jerry Ed Roger Miller.
Deontay leaves a legacy of faith in God and joyous memories to his wife, DaMyra Lynch of the home; children, Kais Michael-Sade Lynch and Iris Summer Lynch both of the home; sister, MeKayla D. Gist of Spartanburg, SC; brother, Andrell D. Wright of Spartanburg, SC; grandmothers, Marlene Lynch of Chesnee, SC and Marilyn Linda Miller of Inman, SC; great-grandparents, Robert (Lois) Caldwell of Inman, SC and Ethel Lynch of Wellford, SC; aunts, Valerie Lynch of Chesnee, SC, Errica Jackson Tucker of Gaffney, SC and Gloria (Troy) McDowell of Spartanburg, SC; uncle, Quenten Jackson of Columbus, NC; father-in-law, Pastor Richard (Evangelist Monique) Kinard of Inman, SC; brother-in-law, Derrell (Essence) Kinard of Boiling Springs, SC; sisters-in-law, Makeya Kinard of Inman, SC and Richelle Kinard; of Inman, SC; grandmothers-in-law, Leanthore Gastinell and Delores Kinard; god-parents, Robert "Pap"(Renee) Caldwell; god-children, Troy "T3" McDowell and Jace Thompson; best friends, Connelius "CJ" Thompson, Jason Horton, and Irrah Jenkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, social media followers, and classmates.
On Friday, January 19, 2024, God, in his infinite wisdom, received "DJ" into his eternal care. He transitioned from the sufferings of the world to dwell in the portals of Heaven to receive his reward. His life and legacy will be a hallmark of faith for all who knew and loved him. A life well lived and a journey completed.
