Deacon Louis
Canty
March 3, 1949 – February 17, 2024
Deacon Louis Canty, Sr. was born on March 3, 1949, to the late Marion Canty and the late Rosa Mae Moore Canty, in Spartanburg, SC. He was educated in the Spartanburg County Schools. Louis was married to the love his life, Mary Elizabeth Mcabee Canty, for over fifty-seven years.
Louis drove trucks for over forty Years and retired from STI trucking. His citizen band or "CB" name was Choo Choo". Louis was a motorcycle enthusiast and spent his spare time riding.
Mr. Canty is noted for having an endearing love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He placed paramount significance on his family and family values. He was a very outgoing individual and never met a stranger. Louis had an uncanny way of making a stranger a friend by having a mere conversation. Louis was a man of morals, principles, and integrity and he stood firm on these pillars and instilled that into his family.
Deacon Canty was founding member of All About Him Christian Ministry where he served on the board of deacons.
Louis was preceded in death, along with his parents, by sons, Louis Canty, Jr "Junior" and John Gilliam.
Louis leaves a lifetime of love and a hallmark of faith and morals to his loving wife, Reverend Dr. Mary E. Canty of the home; sons, Jerry A. (Patricia) Canty of Inman, SC, Jesse (Kimberly) Canty of Roebuck, SC, and Andra (Yolanda) Canty of Spartanburg, SC; daughters, Mary E. Canty "Sis" of the home, Tina (Ronald "Stuff") Higgins of Woodruff, SC, and Teresa (Danny) Briscoe-Foster of Spartanburg, SC; brother, Charles Canty of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Rosa (Dogan) Shands of Roebuck, SC, Nellie Vernon of Inman, SC, Elner Anderson of Inman, SC, Lou Jessie (Kent) Rookard of Inman, SC; grandchildren, David Berry, Roashad Canty, Joques King, Schneil Canty, Jessica K. Foster, Marcus Starks, Destiny Pitts, Lamar Canty, Jordan Canty, Benjamin Starks, Evelyn Starks, Bowen Starks, Dre'Sean Canty and Kieora Canty; and a hosts great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
On Saturday, February 17, 2024 Louis died to the care and keeping of a merciful God. He laid down the troubles of this world to receive his "Well Done". His life, legacy and love will be a treasured keepsake in the heart of his family and friends.
