Daryl Tyler Phillips of Boiling Springs, SC transitioned to his eternal home on Saturday, June 6, 2026, surround by his loving family. Tyler Phillips, affectionately known to his friends as “TP”, was born on July 2, 1991, in Rutherfordton, NC. Growing up Tyler was an active member of Zion Grove AME Zion Church in Pea Ridge, NC. He, along with is mother and sister, joined Ridgeville Baptist Church when was in High School.
Tyler enjoyed sports and excelled in both football and basketball at Boiling Springs High School, graduating in 2009. Tyler went on to play football at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC on a full athletic scholarship.
Tyler provided stability and guidance to his family. He served as their anchor and protector. Even though he stood 6 feet 4 inches, he was their gentle giant. Humility, kindness and compassion were his greatest strengths. For his friends, Tyler provided a strong sense of stability through his loyalty, dedication and genuine love.
Tyler will forever be remembered as considerate, brave , trustworthy, caring and resilient.
He was proceeded in death by maternal grandparents, Joe Louis and Jessie Jackson Staley and cousin, Jada Murray.
Left to honor his life and legacy are his mother, Melissa Staley Phillips of Boiling Springs, SC; sister, Bristan Phillips of Boiling Springs, SC; nieces, Alaila Flack of Rutherfordton, NC and Meyer Phillips of Boiling Springs, SC; nephew, Memphis Phillips of Boiling Springs, SC; father, Daryal Phillips of Chesnee, SC; Paternal grandmother, Hazeline Gaffney Phillips; aunts, Pamela Harrison of Rutherfordton, NC, Paula ( Randolph) Murray of Spindale, NC, Karyn (Ray) Jackson of Inman, SC, Adrienne (James) Miller of Boiling Springs, SC, Twilvia Phillips, and Wanda Phillips both of Chesnee, SC; uncle, Bryan Phillips of Chesnee, SC; close cousins, Farrin Harrison, Jordan Brown, Ryan Higgins, Tevin Higgins, Jessica Murray and Chris Jackson.
