A Life Worth Celebrating

Charlie Dean Martin was born on August 8, 1952, to the late Aron Nathaniel Martin and the late Almarene Payne Martin, in Chesnee, SC. He was educated in Spartanburg County schools and was a 1970 graduate of Foster's Grove High School. He served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy.

Charlie was employed at Auriga Polymers as a Production Scheduler for Staple Stretch.

Charlie enjoyed fishing in his spare time and he enjoyed Marvel Comic movies. In his younger years, he collected comic books. He was an accomplished photographer and was noted as being the family photographer. Charlie was extremely "Tech Savy" and was always on the cusp of whatever was new in the tech world. He was a Carolina Panthers fan and his favorite color was blue.

Charlie had a dry sense of humor and was considered extremely comical. He was curt and straightforward, you never had to guess what he was thinking. He would often talk in parables to convey to you life lessons that he wanted to impart to his family and friends.

Charlie was a member of the Brooklyn Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. He was also a member of the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge, Victor 141.

He leaves his love and memories to his life partner, Lola Jackson of Lyman, SC; sons, Aaron (Patricia) Martin of Simpsonville, SC and Jason (Sheree) Wilson of Boiling Springs NC; daughter, Tiffany Murray of Forest City, NC; brother, Ricky (Maria) Martin of Simpsonville, SC; grandchildren, Evan Martin, Latasha "Barbie T" Whitmire, Meagan Whitmire, Shamar Studyvance, Lawrence Hopper, Malik Hopper, Jason Wilson, Jr., and Jyheem Wilson; great-grandchildren, Kingston Brooks-Whitmire, Naseem Wilson, Elijah Hopper, and Amelia Hopper; bonus daughters, Dawn Jackson and Alicia Jackson; bonus grandchildren, Cambryon Jackson, Bricen Rice, and Keyandra Bowers; bonus great-grandchild, Braelon Rice; aunt, Lee Virgil Martin; uncle, Clarence (Cora) Martin; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

On the morning of Wednesday, November 15, 2023, Charlie transitioned peacefully at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. His comedic and loving spirit will always be treasured by his family and friends.
