Brenda Canty Jackson was born on October 24, 1950, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Bertha Foster Canty and the late Theodore R. Canty. From the very beginning, her life reflected strength, grace, and a spirit that would leave a lasting imprint on all who encountered her.

She was educated in the Spartanburg County School System and graduated from Mary McLeod Bethune High School. Continuing her pursuit of growth, she furthered her education at Spartanburg Technical College. She was later employed with America’s Food Equipment as a Customer Service Representative, where her kindness and professionalism made her both valued and admired.

Brenda found joy in the beauty of everyday life. She enjoyed selling Paparazzi jewelry and had a deep love for cooking, often bringing family together through meals prepared with care and love. Her presence was vibrant, her personality warm and engaging. She was fun, outgoing, and carried herself with a natural elegance that made her unforgettable. A devoted Clemson football fan, she cheered faithfully and lived life with enthusiasm.

Faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She was a dedicated member of Greater Bibleway Miracle Temple, where she served faithfully in the Greeters Ministry and the Choir, offering both a welcoming spirit and a voice of praise. She was also a proud and committed member of Roberta Liberty Chapter No. 133, Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving and devoted husband, Jesse L. Jackson; her beloved daughter, Lakesha J. Camp; and her brother, Harvey Canty.

Those left to cherish, carry forward, and honor the beautiful legacy of her life include her son, Jason L. ( Dr. Jasmine) Jackson of Spartanburg, South Carolina; siblings, Carrie (Willie) Swindler of Dillon, South Carolina and Nancy (Tommy) Dawkins of Moore, South Carolina; grandson reared in the home, Keshawn Camp; grandchildren, Tenisha Hopkins, Regina Camp, Jada Camp, Mackensie Fowler, Logan Jackson, and Savannah Jackson; two great-grandchildren; goddaughters, Tonnnia Means, Kennedy Rookard, and Sheena Swindler; godsons, Adrian Wilkins, Darius Moore, and Greg Wilkins; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends whose lives were richly touched by her presence.

On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Brenda transitioned peacefully at Spartanburg Medical Center. Though her presence is no longer seen, the love she gave, the joy she shared, and the legacy she leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was a gift. Her memory, a treasure. Her love, everlasting.
