Obituary

Mr. Bradford Mays was born to the late Vernon Mays and the late Clara Weaver, on March 31, 1945, in Spartanburg, SC. His grandparents raised him, the late Vannie Lee Mays and the late Leoda Mays.  He was a graduate of Foster's Grove High School.  Bradford was a devoted member of Friends & Christ United Methodist Church.

After retiring from Southern Railroad and from being a Professional Truck Driver, his favorite pastimes became gardening and taking care of everyone in the community by sharing foods from his garden.  He would also drive neighbors and friends to places they needed to be taken.   He had a very inviting presence coupled with an outgoing personality. He never met a stranger and talked to almost everyone he encountered.

Bradford was predeceased, along with his parents and grandparents, by siblings Arthur Mayes, Malice Mayes, Vernon Wilkins, Vannie Lee Mayes Hubert Mayes, Lela Ree Foster, Sylvia Mayes, Ollie Miller and Haywood Mayes.

Those left to cherish his loving memories are his wife of 30 years, Marion M. Mays of the home; sister, Mary Helen Doggett of Spartanburg, SC; special nephews and nieces, Cameron Moore, Kyla Moore and Journey Bonds; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

On June 21, 2024, Bradford answered the Savior's call.  His loving and friendly soul will be sorely missed by all who loved and knew him.
