Obituary

Bessie Jean Jones was born on February 16, 1939, to the late Easter Dorn in McCormick, SC.  She was educated in the McCormick County Schools. Bessie loved her family tremendously. She took great pride in cooking and doing church work. Bessie loved the Lord with all her of heart and thoroughly enjoyed reading the Bible.

Bessie enjoyed traveling and her most recent trip was to Louisville Kentucky. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching The Word Networks and westerns. In the past, she loved tending to her gardens. Most recently she learned how to play the guitar.

Her favorite NFL football team was the Carolina Panthers, and she was partial to the color purple.

She a was member of Bountiful Blessing Church and was currently attending New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death, along with her mother, by her husband, Henry Jones; siblings, James Elmore, Leroy Dorn, Virginia Ward, and Magie Dorn.

Bessie leaves a lifetime of love and memories to a son, Arthur J. (Karrie) Wilson, Jr. of Lynchburg, VA; daughters, Betty Smith of Duncan, SC, Henrietta Jones of Greer, SC, Wanda Kelly of Spartanburg, SC and Rhonda Jones-Foster of Inman, SC; sister, Cornelia Calhoun of Bronx, NY; grandchildren, Jarvis Wilson, Jasmine Wilson, Justin Wilson, Josiah Wilson, Jacinta Wilson, Julian Wilson, Andre Robinson, Crystal Smith, Tiffany Smith, Juan Clyburn, Keisha Witherspoon, Frankie Clyburn, Andrea Wade, Reginald (Tationia) McClinton, Cedric (LaTorie) Kelly, Shakeyla Kelly, Shanika Kelly, Keyonie Foster, and Keyontae Foster; 33 greatgrandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

On Sunday, April 28, 2024, Bessie transitioned peacefully at her home. A beautiful, godly, and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend will now rest from her labor. We celebrate her life and remember her gentle spirit.
