Ms. Bertha Louise Young was born, on August 12, 1957, to the late Charles Talley and the late Lottie Rose Chapman, in Spartanburg, SC. She was educated in the Spartanburg County Schools. Bertha was a member of Word of Deliverance Church and served on the Gatekeeper Ministry.

Bertha was a natural comedian. She loved to "talk junk" and was very outspoken. She had a strong and endearing love for her family. Her favorite color was red. She could often be found watching WWE and her favorite wrestler was the Undertaker.

Bertha was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, Roy Young and sisters, Penny Pearson and Mary Chapman.

She leaves to cherish her legacy and love to daughters, Kimberly Chapman of Greenville, SC and Sabriva (Ahih-Chijioke) Godswill of Chesnee, SC; brother, John Arthur (Budessel) Chapman, Sr. of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Ry'kimzie Chapman of Greenville, SC, Shay Chapman of Spartanburg, SC, Ryjaih Chapman of Greenville, SC and Brad Chapman of Greenville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

On the evening of Saturday, April 8, 2023, Bertha left her post on earth as a gatekeeper to join the great cloud of witnesses in heaven. Her comedic and loving spirit will continue to be a source of strength and encouragement to all who knew her.
