Audrey Lea Alverson, also known to others as "Sista", was born on January 31, 1937, to the late Marie Gordon and the late Percy Gordon in Greensburg, LA. She graduated from St. Helena High School. Audrey had eight children and became a homemaker with her first husband and later remarried to Robert Lee and gained three stepchildren and that made her a mother of eleven. She continued to raise her children in the admonition of the Lord.

Audrey loved the Lord; you could count on her to have Bible Scriptures in every room of her home. She was a very generous woman who would do anything she could to help others. Audrey loved cooking and preparing meals for her family. She also enjoyed spending her time planting vegetables in her garden with her husband. Her favorite colors were purple, lavender, and pink. Amongst her love for her family and garden was also her dog Buster Audrey was preceded in death, along with her parents, her children, Sherlyn Y. Gilbert, Felicia A. Gilbert, and Dwain F. Gilbert.

She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories to husband, Robert L Alverson; sons, Thiogest J. Gilbert, Jr., Patrick Gilbert, Andre Alverson, Terrance McKnight and Robert E. (Latonya) Alverson; daughters, Connie R. Gilbert, Nichelle (Chad) Spates, Valerie (Wilbur) Temple, and Carolyn Ann Alverson; brother, Osborne (Condrumel) Gordon; sisters, Edwina Knox, Alma Wicker, Bernette Spooner, Georgie Broomfield, Elaine Spears, Sylvia Byers, and Idora Jackson; 26 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

On the evening of Saturday, June 10, 2023, Audrey Lea was called home to be with her loving Savior and father in heaven. Her loving, caring, and generous spirit will be missed by her family and friends.
