Arthur Lee Wilson, affectionately known as “Bug,” was born on January 7, 1951, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Chicora Wilson and the late Claude Wilson. He was a proud graduate of Carver High School, Class of 1969. Following graduation, he dedicated many years of faithful service as a machinist with Sew Euro Drive, where he eventually retired.
Arthur was a man of simple joys and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He found pleasure in watching classic episodes of Gunsmoke, following NASCAR races, and enjoying an ice-cold Pepsi. More than anything, however, he cherished his family. He delighted in shopping for his sons, creating lasting memories through his generosity and thoughtfulness. Known for his loving spirit, Arthur was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence brought comfort, wisdom, and laughter to those around him. Having accepted Christ as his Savior, he was saved and baptized at Golden Street Baptist Church, where his faith became a guiding force throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Gwendolyn Layton.
Left to cherish his life, love, and legacy are his devoted spouse of forty-five years, Valerie Miller of the home; his sons, Terrance (Maya) Wilson of Spartanburg, SC and Alex (Tiffany) Irby of Boiling Springs, SC; his grandson reared in the home, De’Shaun (Kyra) Moultrie of El Paso, TX; grandchildren, Jaiven Wilson of Spartanburg, SC, and Kelsyn Irby and Keilyn Irby, both of Boiling Springs, SC; great-grandchildren, Silas Moultrie and Sarai Moultrie, both of El Paso, TX; sisters, Dorothy (Gerald) Smith and Claudia (Michael) Sims, both of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
On Thursday, May 28, 2026, Arthur peacefully transitioned from labor to reward at the comfort of his home. Though his earthly journey has ended, the love he shared, the lessons he imparted, and the legacy he leaves behind will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him. His gentle presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain a cherished blessing for generations to come.
