Obituary

Artemicia Tanner was born September 1, 1927, to the late Veolia Littlejohn Tanner and the late Rosevelt Tanner, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was educated in Spartanburg County schools and worked for many years as a domestic engineer for the Black's, a prominent Spartanburg family.

She loved gardening, especially flowers, and was a wonderful cook. Quiet and reserved, she was always smiling, caring for others, and giving of herself. She was also a faithful member of the Sympathy Club.

She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her daughter, Priscilla Wideman.

Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Floretta (Richard Walton) Miller of Spartanburg, SC and Sonji (Bobby) Rice of Spartanburg, SC; great-grandchildren, Boris Rice, Katara Miller, Jerome Miller, and Alton Miller; goddaughter, Sounja Camp; along with a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

On Monday, September 15, 2025, Artemicia transitioned at Woodruff Manor. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and loving heart will be remembered by all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, the kindness she showed and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will truly be missed.
