On June 18, 1967, Anthony Hill, affectionately known as “Big Daddy,” was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to Everlena Hill and the late Johnny Hill. He received his education in Spartanburg County Schools and was a proud 1987 graduate of Spartanburg High School.
Anthony was a skilled master barber and the proud owner and operator of IDZ Cuttin Up. Through his profession, he did more than cut hair; he built relationships, shared conversations, and became a familiar and respected presence in his community.
Anthony loved God and found great joy in giving Him praise. He was a faithful member of New Hope Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon and was actively involved in the Audio Ministry. His love for God was an important part of who he was, and he faithfully used his gifts in service to the church.
Quiet and reserved by nature, Anthony was a man whose presence spoke for itself. He enjoyed football and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. His favorite colors, naturally, were Dallas blue and silver. He was also an active member of the Pineview Hills Community Committee, demonstrating his commitment to the community he called home.
Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Hill; and his brothers, Kenneth Miller and Standford Anderson.
Left to cherish his love, laughter, and lasting legacy are his devoted wife of 38 years, Valerie Hill of the home; two daughters, Sasha (Danyelle) Jeter and Iesha Nesbitt, both of Spartanburg, SC; his siblings, Stanley Anderson, Johnny (Alma) Hill, Michael (Stephanie) Hill, Tommy Anderson, Tommy Smith, David Williams, Reba Hill, and Rebecca Hill, all of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren, Isaih Martin, D’Asha Jeter, Mason Sowell, and Zoey Jeter; his goddaughter, Janice Glenn; a special niece, Asheley Hughes; his adopted daughter, Jessica Young; his best friends, Ernestine Walker and Sharon Westly; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
On the morning of Saturday, November 1, 2026, Anthony's earthly journey came to a close. Having lived a life marked by faith, love, family, and service, he answered the Master's call and, as the Scripture declares, “Enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matthew 25:21)
Though his earthly presence will be deeply missed, the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind will continue to speak for generations to come.
A life well lived. A race faithfully run. A journey completed.
