Ms. Anne Mathis Maybin of Spartanburg, South Carolina, entered eternal rest on Friday, August 28, 2026, following a brief illness. Born in Spartanburg County, Anne was the daughter of Mr. Floyd Mathis and the late Mrs. Beulah Petty Mathis.

A proud 1983 graduate of Spartanburg High School, Anne continued her education at the Spartanburg Methodist College, where she received an Associate of Arts degree, and at Winthrop University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Anne was employed by the Department of Social Services, where she served as an Eligibility Specialist II for over 25 years.

Ms. Maybin was an active and faithful member of the Greater New Zion Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Jimmie Peake Jr. Anne loved her church family. She participated enthusiastically in church events and served for several years on the 3P Scholarship Board, the Usher Board, and as a finance officer.

Ms. Maybin is lovingly survived by her son, Cameron Elijah Maybin of the home; three sisters, Karen Mathis Willis of Virginia Beach, VA, Vanessa Petty of Spartanburg, SC, Tara Rice (Ernest) of Boiling Springs, SC; and one brother, Michael Mathis of Spartanburg, SC. Anne was preceded in death by her aunts, Brenda Petty, Doris Stewart, Lunette Petty, and Sarah Brannon, and her uncle, Ernest Mathis.

She was cherished by a large family of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends, including Donald Mathis, Ronnie Mathis, Charles Mathis, Jessie Mathis, Dorothy Hendrix, Peggy Ann Ferguson, Stephen Petty (Gigail), Jaqueline Petty, Sterling Petty, Dawn Petty, Gabrielle Petty, Kendrick Spann, Kingston Spann, Mystress Miller, Ebony Willis, Jada Willis, Mylah Mathis, Evin Petty, Destiny Petty, Tirani Petty, Taylor Petty, Wynter Petty, Skylar Lim, and Kosal Lim.

Anne was known for her love of books and was an avid reader. She enjoyed movies, sports, the Carolina Panthers, the Lady Gamecocks, and the artist formerly known as Prince, whose music inspired her love for the color “purple.”

Anne was admired for her caring and humble spirit, which brought comfort and joy to everyone she touched. Her smile brightened every room and warmed the hearts of those around her. To know Anne was to understand the genuine meaning of a walking blessing. Her love, intelligence, creativity, and faithful spirit will live on through future generations. We love you, our angel.
