Mr. Andy Ben "AB" Miller, Sr. was born on December 1, 1937, to the late Booker T and the late Lillie Mae Miller in Spartanburg, SC. He was educated in the Spartanburg County Schools. He also served in the United States Army. Andy was wed to Shirley Wells Miller and to their union five children were born.

Andy was a charter member of First AME Church of Spartanburg, SC and his favorite scripture was John 3:16. He was one of the founders of the Uptown Optimus Club. Andy was a Cub Scout leader of  Troop 105, baseball coach, American Legion Post 270, Pride of Spartanburg  #211, Order of Easter Star #98, Tamin Temple #155, JE Dixon Consistory #217, and Foster Oglesby #61.

He was known and as being a "father" of the community.  Although he raised his own children, there are countless others who have been fathered by him. He was also the neighborhood "school bus" driver and he and his wife ensured all the children of the neighborhood had all of their school supplies yearly. His favorite football team was the Chicago Bears.

Andy was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Miller Hines.

He leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories to his devoted wife of 65 years and six months, Shirley Miller of the home; daughter, Merle Hammond of the home; sons, Andy Ben Miller, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC, Walter Aaron (Wendy) Miller of Winder, GA, and Amos Jonathan Miller of Spartanburg, SC; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, adopted children, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Andy transitioned peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 25, 2023. His works on earth are now completed and his "Well Done" received. His legacy of faith, community, service and generosity will forever be a hallmark in the lives and memories of all who knew him.
